A change in governance at the school
From 31st July 2018, Totnes St John's entered into a Management Partnership with the Academy of Character and Excellence (ACE). This was done in preparation for the school's formal, sponsored academisation into the ACE academy on the 1st December 2018.
For the duration of the Management Partnership, the formal governance of the school is being undertaken by an Interim Executive Board (IEB). The IEB consists of three highly experienced governors: Iain Grafton (Chair), Sue Lockwood and Jane Collings, along with associate members Chris Grimshaw and Heather McIntyre, and ACE Foundation Directors, Jackie Gater and Phillip Mantel.
On the 1st December 2018, Totnes St John's will become a full member school of the ACE Academy Trust and full governance of the school will pass to the ACE Board of Directors. ACE's vision and mission are closely aligned with St John's; they are committed to the personal growth of all with a sense of fulfilment and accomplishment for every pupil, of every ability. They are also dedicated to cultivating the individual through access to an exciting curriculum and varied opportunities. Through all this however, they are also committed to maintaining the individual character of each of their member schools so that they can continue to reflect the communities that they serve. We are every excited about this next step in the story of St John's and very proud to be the fifth and newest member of the ACE family.
